I suppose it does… Can you report back on this ? It would be great. To upgrade your spear initially, complete the In Her Mother's Footsteps. One thing I never actually paid attention to is whether, if you do the DLC mission to get the slot in your first playthrough before acquiring the Lance, it automatically retains that slot once you switch to it. People are often confused about the slot things because they watch playthroughs with people who are already on more than one NG+ and have everything with max slots possible. But once you have those 2 slots, your next NG+ will have them from the start (same for the rest of your weapons and outfits you will have bought in the course of your first NG+, you retain them with the added slots). That only works once though, you can't add slots ad infinitum. So you start your first NG+ with it (it already has the slot you got from the first playthrough if you did the dlc), and then you can upgrade it to one more slot by doing A secret Shared again. The only way to have more than one slot on a spear is with Sylens's Lance in any case, because it replaces your spear during the course of the story, so you will always start a NG+ with it instead of your Nora Spear. All the best weapons are ranged options but it is possible to upgrade Aloys spear by finding and beating the Enduring in Horizon Forbidden West. The spear modifications were introduced with the DLC, and it's only there that you can do "A secret shared" and obtain a slot for your spear (either's Aloy's Nora spear, or Sylen's Lance).
